An experienced veterinary surgeon at Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut, Steven Leshem, DVM, provides soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, trauma surgery, and neurosurgery services to clients. A dedicated member of the professional community, Steve Leshem has been a member in good standing at the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) since 2000.

Recently the AVMA, one of the world’s oldest and largest veterinary medical organizations, launched a comprehensive animal welfare hub in celebration of World Veterinary Day. The hub is available online and on mobile devices, providing easy access to its wide range of helpful resources. The AVMA’s welfare hub not only allows the organization to put these resources together, it also grows trusted resources while facilitating learning.

The resources available in the animal welfare hub include everything from nutrition to human handling, across a variety of animal species. All aspects of animal welfare are covered by the site, and the hub’s development earned the AVMA the 2014 World Veterinary Day Award. In addition to its creation of the hub, the AVMA participated in the Global Webinar of Animal Welfare, which was co-hosted by the European Commission and the World Veterinary Association.
